We're Moving to the Clarkston Community Center!!!

After 12+ years at Morningside Baptist Church, CCD is moving to a new Hall. And if YOU'VE ever moved after being in the same place for more than a decade you know what a big job this is going to be. Before our first dance on Friday, April 10th at the Clarkston Community Center boxes have to be packed and loaded onto trucks, the old place has to be cleaned out and the new place built out and organized to receive everything. |

"CHANGE OF ADDRESS" NOTIFICATION
Help us get the word out to current dancers that we are moving. To volunteer to help with any of the items below email Sherry Kilpatrick.-
Hold mailing party on 3/12 to address and stamp flyers- DONE -
Host a phone bank party -- volunteers bring their cell phones, divide up the mailing list, and leave messages for dancers who don't come to dance very often- DONE - Email a notification to other regional dances -- Chattanooga, Athens, Asheville, Birmingham, Huntsville, Sautee, Greenville, Knoxville, Charleston
- Pass the news via word of mouth -- EVERYONE needs to sign up for this one. :-)
"NEW NEIGHBOR" OUTREACH
We want to get off on the right foot with our new neigbors. Which means letting them know we exist and inviting them to come to our dance. To volunteer to help with any of the (not yet completed) items below email Sherry Kilpatrick.-
Create a flyer advertising Contradancing in Clarkston- DONE -
Write and distribute press releases to AJC, Neighborhood News, AAFFM, Creative Loafing- DONE - Meet the neighbors. Handout/leave flyers at all houses/buildings within three block radius.
- Meet local leaders at City Hall, local businesses, local faith-based organizations. Request permission to post flyers.
- Meet potential dancers at DeKalb Tech, GA Perimeter College. Request permission to post flyers
- Meet the Clarkston police. Give them a heads up on when dancers will be walking back and forth to their cars.
- Distribute "Contradancing in Clarkston" flyers at local events,
such as WRFG Peach Blossom Bluegrass Festival at CCC (4/3 - 4/5) - Get approval from local yard owners, DOT, to post directional signs on Friday nights
CONSTRUCTION
Help us customize the new Hall. To volunteer to help build any of the items below email Duncan Cottrell.- Signs: "Dance Here Tonight," direction signs to/from parking areas
- Storage: Equipment, personal items
- Sound baffles and enhancements: temporary and permanent
MOVING DAY
To volunteer to help with any of the tasks below email Roger McLain.- Sort items in the storage room at Morningside Baptist (Decide what gets moved, what gets reunited with its rightful owners, what gets donated to charity, what gets tossed)
- Pack and move items from MBC (Sound, festival gear; lights; other)
- Work with Sound committee to unpack at CCC
- Clean up at MBC -- leave in good condition
DECORATIONS
To volunteer to help with any of the tasks below email Sherry Kilpatrick.- Determine what temporary (e.g. for special dances) and permanent lights and decorations we will be allowed to do
- Work with Sound committee to install decorative sound baffles and enhancements
