CCD STEERING COMMITTEE Meeting - Minutes
October 15, 2003

The meeting was held at Lalah Manly’s home at 7:30 p.m.

CCD Steering Committee members present: Rob Harper, Jan Kent, Lalah Manly, Harriette Liske, Ann Robinson, Bruce Tarnopolski, Emily Vorder Bruegge, and Ann Whitley
Guests: Pam Eidson, Tom Jordan, Kevin Liske, John O’Neal, Janet Shepherd, Seth Tepfer and Christin Whittington.

OLD BUSINESS
Nominating Committee: Approximately ten people will have been nominated for steering committee membership by the end of next week, and the three new members will be elected October 24.

Halloween Costume Contest: The band will serve as the judges and pick the winners. First Place winner gets to attend the dance weekend free. The runner up will get a dance weekend T-shirt. And the third place costume will win a pass to a Friday night dance.

Child Care: Began October 10, with a group of 4 or 5 children.

The harassment statement: Prepared by Ann Whitley and will go on the list serve. At an upcoming callers’ meeting, Ann Whitley said there were plans to ask callers to emphasize comfort and safety when calling dances.

NEW BUSINESS

Selecting a band for November, 2004: Alternates chosen were Big Table and Hotpoint. Pam Eidson will check for band availability.

NOVEMBER DANCE WEEKEND
Lalah announced registration is going well for the dance weekend, and ahead of this time last year in terms of numbers of people registered.

It was decided everyone would wear armbands. Prices are $10 Friday night, $10 Saturday morning (this would include the contra dance that begins before noon on Saturday), $10 Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. Saturday night, if not sold out would cost $30.00.

The logistics for the Saturday night break were discussed at length. Some dancers feel that too long of a half-time break takes away too much time from dancing. The plan is to move the skits and activities along as quickly as possible, and Kevin Liske will be the "stage manager" for the halftime program and festivities.

Janet Shepherd brought sample buttons to show the group.

Next meeting: Tentatively scheduled for Sunday, November 16th at 7 p.m. Bruce Tarnopolski volunteered his home for this meeting. The meeting will be limited to one purpose: planning how to evaluate and incorporate new callers in the CCD community. It is felt that it is very important for as many of CCD’s callers as possible to come to this meeting, as their experience and guidance is needed.
