March 13-15, 2026 The Celebration!

FAQ

I’m flying in from out of town; can I use public transportation to get to Celebration?

Yes! There is a MARTA train from inside the airport to within 1/2 block of the Decatur Recreation Center.
Directions: Take the MARTA Red or Gold line train from the Airport Station (located in the domestic terminal) to Five Points Station, then transfer to the Blue Line heading east toward Indian Creek to reach Decatur Station. The trip takes approximately 35–40 minutes. Trains run every 10–20 minutes depending on the time of day.

What role terms will be used for the Contra dances?

Larks and Robins

I’m not able to dance right now.  Are there any other activities on offer besides dancing happening during Celebration!?

Yes!  We will have games and crafts and a ukulele jam and a pot luck meal. Also opportunities to sit in the bleachers and just chat with your friends.  The entire point of this weekend is to celebrate our community — please come be part of ours!!

How much will the weekend cost?

Friday night dance is $15 (regular), $7 (low income).
Saturday is FREE, FREE, FREE.  This has been made possible by a bequest to us from beloved Contra dancer, Square dancer, and English Country dancer, the late Glen Rodgerson.
The Sunday dance on top of Stone Mountain is not entirely free as you will have to pay to drive into the park and, if you choose the cable care route instead of hiking to the top, there is a cost associated with that as well.  See Celebration Sunday schedule for more details.

May I bring my kids?

We love seeing families in our dance community! Dance can be a wonderful multigenerational activity. To help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, please review the following guidelines if you plan to bring children.
1. Supervision
  • Children must be under the direct supervision of a responsible adult at all times.
  • The supervising adult is responsible for the child’s behavior and safety both on and off the dance floor.

2. Participation on the Dance Floor
  • Children who are able to follow instructions and move safely within a dance line are welcome to participate.
  • Younger children who are not yet able to follow calls or maintain spatial awareness may need to sit out or dance only with close supervision.
  • Safety and courtesy to other dancers should always come first.
3. Respect for the Shared Space
  • The dance hall is not a playground. Running, climbing, or unsupervised wandering is not permitted.
  • Quiet play in designated areas is encouraged if available.
  • If a child becomes upset or disruptive, please step outside the hall until they are settled.

4. Youth Conduct
  • Older children and teens are expected to follow the same code of conduct as adult dancers, including consent and respectful partnering practices.

Our goal is to maintain a warm, inclusive, and safe dance environment for all ages. Thank you for helping us keep the dance joyful and respectful for everyone.
